The 2008 edition of FP Equities - Preferreds & Derivatives is organized into three main sections:

The Preferred Shares section lists outstanding publicly and privately held preferred shares with detailed descriptions of their features. Separate tables list convertible, exchangeable and retractable preferred share issues.

The Ratings section consists of ratings supplied by Dominion Bond Rating Service Limited (listed by company and by rating) and Standard & Poor’s (listed by company). The ratings are effective as at April 28, 2008 and April 03, 2008 respectively.

The Derivatives section covers four distinct areas:

All shares, preferred securities, structured products, Income Trusts and warrants outstanding as at April 28, 2008 have been included. Trading prices reflect closing price on or recent to April 28, 2008.

Preferred shares are fixed income securities. Whereas common share dividends are tied to the earnings of the issuing company, preferred shares entitle the holder to a fixed dividend income. Preferred dividends are not a legal obligation of the company and can therefore be omitted. Most preferred dividends are cumulative, however, meaning that unpaid dividends accumulate and the company is prohibited from paying dividends on its common shares until the arrears have been paid in full.

PREFERRED SECURITIES A tabular presentation of key data on preferred securities, also referred to as hybrid securities (between debt and equity) together with a detailed description of their features.

STRUCTURED PRODUCTS A detailed description of their features.

INCOME TRUSTS A tabular presentation of key data and a brief description of Canadian-based income trusts and their features.
WARRANTS A brief description of warrants and their features. Includes two tables, the first organized by date of expiry and the second, in alphabetical order, by company. Each table contains details of the subscription basis, exercise price, expiry date, exchange listing and trading symbol.
